I am organizing our second annual Science Fair featuring the first place winners projects in our network that are related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). There are 25 schools (PreK-12) in our network located in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. I am looking for people willing to come to our host school in Brooklyn on June 9, 2010 to present their career highlighting the importance of STEM fields. I would like participants to present their career in a way that involves a hands-on learning opportunity geared towards students that showcases a scientific instrument, project poster, or technology used in their field. I would like this to be an opportunity for them to share the excitement that made them want to pursue their career in a STEM field with the students and fair attendees.
There will be math and science activity tables, school robotics program demonstrations, and science projects displayed. CFN 4 encourages our schools to engage in project based learning opportunities. In addition to encouraging our young people to pursue careers in the STEM fields, this will be an opportunity for our students to share what they have learned about their projects with the parents, community members, educational officials, and media outlets in attendance.
